Class Descriptions

Below please find a list of all class descriptions.  If your dancer
does not compete, we will place him/her in the appropriate class based on their
progression.  Please let your teacher know if you have any questions about
appropriate classes for your dancer.  Final class placement will be
determined by the teaching staff.

 Please note: dancers may be asked to remain at the same level for more than 1 year.

Core Classes

Preschool Dancers age 2-4.
Beginner Dancers age 5+ who have never
taken Irish dancing lessons.  Dancers will learn their reel and their
light jig.
Advanced Beginner Dancers who have been dancing for
1 year or mastered their beginner reel and jig.  Dancers will learn
their single jig and slip jig.
Beginner Hard Shoe Dancers beginning hard shoe for
the first time.  Dancers will learn their traditional hornpipe and treble
jig.
Novice Soft Shoe Dancers who are starting their 3rd
year of dancing and competing at the novice level in their reel and slip jig.
Novice Hard Shoe Dancers who will soon compete at
the novice level in their treble jig and hornpipe.  Slow speed material
will be introduced.
Prizewinner Soft Shoe Dancers who are usually starting
their 4th year of dancing and competing at the prizewinner level in their
reel and slip jig.
Prizewinner Hard Shoe Dancers who are competing at the
prizewinner level in their treble jig and hornpipe.
PC/OC Dancers who are competing at the
preliminary or open championship level.
Teen/Adult Dancers age 13+ who are working on
all aspects of Irish dance.
